Gregory Barnes was formerly incarcerated at San Quentin Prison in California and released in December, 2007. He now divides his time between Napa Valley and the Bay Area.
In a recent letter to editor Jeffrey Hillard, Barnes wrote, “In my cell I knew I could not keep from doing nothing. I asked God, ‘What am I really supposed to be doing?’ Not much later I heard, ‘Draw. Just draw.’ I got that urge. But I wasn’t sure. I had never drawn anything before. I am self-taught. I thank God for what I can do.”
